Project Summary Wheatstone’s co-founder, Jim Murphy, completed an environmental study of undeveloped waterfront property owned by the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport). The property had many historical uses and, during The Big Dig, was part of a large slurry plant utilized for many of the deep excavations. The site is situated directly above the Ted Williams Tunnel, and is now the home of Legal Sea Foods Corporate Center with its 70,000 square foot seafood processing and distribution facility. The environmental studies included evaluation of the property conditions related to the Massachusetts Contingency Plan. Mr. Murphy provided reuse recommendations of site materials prior to, during and after construction, he saved Legal Sea Foods thousands of dollars in disposal costs by segregating and shipping excess materials to appropriate Massport-approved disposal facilities, and allowed the building’s scheduled occupancy to occur.
