Wheatstone Assists Dana-Farber in New Cancer Institute

Type:  Announcements

A recent project of one of Wheatstone’s Licensed Site Professionals, James P. Murphy, is expected to have a significant impact on quality of life in the area of Milford, Massachusetts. The new treatment center will allow Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center and Milford Regional Medical Center to combine their strengths in an expanded, collaborative, ambulatory oncology service. The facility is located next to the Milford Regional Medical Center on Route 140. Dana-Farber and the Brigham & Women’s Hospital are two New England institutions representing leading edge research into treatment of patients with cancer. This project will offer patients an opportunity to receive world-class Dana-Farber care and resources while in the comfort of their local community hospitals.

Wheatstone’s work on the project began in early 2006 with due diligence studies and pre-demolition surveys on three existing buildings. Wheatstone continued to provide environmental expertise throughout the design phase and construction.  Mr. Murphy’s assistance and recommendations provided added value to the new construction, by incorporating preventative measures into the building design that will effectively eliminate environmental conditions from affecting the facility, while creating a significant savings and eliminating future disruptions to this regional cancer treatment center.
