

James P. MurphyMr. Murphy’s experience as an environmental and geotechnical consultant in the New England area spans more than twenty-five years. He has been a Licensed Site Professional since 1993, providing LSP services to clients that range from Fortune 500 companies to townships in Massachusetts. Mr. Murphy specializes in assessment and redevelopment of former manufacturing facilities. His recent projects include project design through construction of a private airplane hangar where prior site usage affected both soil and groundwater; environmental response actions for buried drums and leaking underground storage tanks; assessment and redevelopment of Brownfield sites and, soil and groundwater remediation. Jim's problem-solving abilities and advanced team-building techniques add further value and benefit to project design teams. Clients have utilized his skills for extended project services such as negotiating lease or purchase agreements with landowners. As a Principal of the firm, his inclusive management style fosters growth, learning, and advancement for Wheatstone’s staff. Carl ShapiroMr. Shapiro is a founder and Principal of Wheatstone, and has been a practicing Licensed Site Professional since the inception of that Massachusetts regulatory program in 1993. Currently, he is serving as Past President and liasion to the MA DEP for the LSP Association, after completing a one year term as President. Carl's past positions with the LSPA also include: President-Elect, Treasurer and his chairmanship for the Loss Prevention Committee. Mr. Shapiro holds a Master’s Degree in Chemistry, and, due to his skills and experience in remediation design for hazardous waste sites, he is an EPA technical contact for innovative in-situ chemical redox remediation techniques. Prior to becoming an LSP in 1993, he served as General Manager of a licensed hazardous waste transportation and remediation company serving the Northeast Corridor of the United States, where he gained valuable knowledge and insight into emergency response and remediation operations and field services. His practice specializes in emergency spill response, remediation and site cleanup, environmental management of commercial and industrial facilities, and environmental enforcement mediation for which he holds a degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Massachusetts. Mr. Shapiro was appointed Vice-Chairman of his town’s Conservation Commission, after being a Commissioner since 1993, bringing his expertise in redevelopment of properties with potential impacts to wetlands. |
